Another dating question has come in this week. Let’s tackle it straight away:
Well, civil engineering is a pretty big field… but it usually involves something along the lines of designing buildings, bridges, roads, airports, dams, water supply, drainage systems, or sewage treatment plants… or the maintenance & improvements of those items.
He probably knows as much about make-up as you know about civil engineering (i.e., nothing)… so you both should ask questions about each other’s jobs… followed by hobbies and interests.
As an engineer, he’s probably a little bit of a geek… and likely watches TV shows such as Mythbusters and Star Trek (ask him whether he prefers Kirk or Picard).
Engineers are usually logical, conservative, loyal, thrifty (cheap), shy, honest, and reliable. Some might be a bit blunt, and have questionable taste when picking out clothes (i.e., not much interest in matching colors or styles, and always wearing white socks).
He’s probably not too talkative (or else he would have gone into marketing or sales), will always have a pen in case you need one, and will drive a car with good reliability (i.e., not a sports car).
He might not be willing to show much interest unless you make it pretty clear that you would like to see him again… so if you enjoy his company, then make it obvious. Engineers are often social turtles, and aren’t exactly known for picking up on subtle cues or tiny hints.
Finally, no matter what type of human male you date… keep your panties on until you get married. That’ll eliminate 99% of the creeps, losers, and players… and mistakes of passion… which will make your life much happier and simpler in the long run. You’ll also be protected against pregnancy, STD’s, and excessive heartache.
Good luck, GFT!
