What’s this week’s question? Let’s dive straight in…
Question: I am traveling to Canada from the US. My passport expires Aug. 30th, 2010. My trip is July 22, 2010 to July 25, 2010.
Answer: You can use your passport for your trip right up to it’s expiry date.
The idea that you must have 6 months remaining is a commonly believed myth spread by lazy travel agents who can’t be bothered to check. It’s only true in a few rare cases and it’s not always 6 months either.

Most countries requires a passport to have a validity of least six months before you can enter a country. You should make a new passport before making this trip to Canada. Otherwise you may encounter problems at the immigration or refuse entry.
