To Men Who Won't Date Plus-size Women:?

Well here’s a question I just had to answering straight away:

Question: Have you ever considered the possibility that women diet because they feel intense pressure to be slim because of your or other men’s judgment about their weight?

And that dieting, because the body doesn’t tolerate it well, requires ever-greater control, which then often tips into eating disorders?

Would you be willing to consider that your judgments about weight could unintentionally tip women into eating disorders?
@JD, apparently you have an issue with a woman’s body size?
@ BlackRose, I’m very sorry about your cousin, and for your loss. As someone with an ED, I am very familiar with EDs, and sit in discussion groups with lots of women (and one man) with ANA, regularly. Late-stage ANA may not end up being about fear of being unaccepted by men, but the dieting it kicks it off very often is. As the person diets more, and has to exert more control in order to tolerate the increasing hunger over time, she has to exert more control ("mind over matter" regarding the hunger), she gets ever more judgmental about her eating and body, and develops more extreme expectations. The ineffectiveness and unnaturalness of dieting (starving/hunger) frequently causes the eating disordered behaviors to grow more extreme.

Answer: It’s not so much that men want it, it’s the fact of the media that tells women what men want them to look like, and tells men what their women should look like. Personally I’m attracted towards a smile in people, as well as just their physical proportions.

Like I said, nobody owes plus size women a date. I only date women I’m attracted to.

Damn feminists, all they do is blame men for all their problems. Women with eating disorders quite often start out slimming because THEY ARE IN COMPETITION WITH OTHER FEMALES! The psychological warfare women subject each other to is the core of the emotional baggage women carry around with them, but in typical feminist fashion they can’t take any responsibility for this and simply blame men…

I think wanting to feel attractive can make certain women go too far but anorexia, for example, is a mental illness. It’s not about wanting to attract the opposite sex it’s a control thing and they feel like they’re in control by not eating. My cousin is anorexic and nearly died. I can assure you she didn’t starve herself to attract men.

None of that makes me attracted to overweight women, I don’t mean to sound harsh but that’s the truth.

Their problem not ours, We like what we like. What right do you have to tell us that is wrong, I am pretty sure we don’t need your input. If they get eating disorders, too bad for them, I am not responsible for them, I am only responsible for me.

Same is true for women, they want a good looking guy with a fat wallet. You going to say they shouldn’t do that.. I would love to see you try.

I don’t mind plus sized women if they use a lot of very smelly perfume, and do not expect me to be attracted to them.

well when women stop being on average 27.5 bmi we might start worrying about excessively thin women.

Plenty of people diet without getting eating disorders which are still actually fairly rare.

really the problem seems to be on women not on us because surely if we men started actively seeking over weighted partners, women would simply increase their risk of heart attacks and diabetes which I fail to see how that would be an improvement.

As it happen men rarely seek underweighted partners or date them because their simply isn’t eought women around when rates of obesity are around 66% in women

most ‘plus-size women’ I know are actually happy and don’t consider their weight to be a serious issue.
Feminists though are never happy, the most miserable un for filled people by far, and burying your head in more misandric books by Gloria Steinem, Andrea Dworkin etc is only going to make you more miserable. Increasing your man hatred will never equate to happiness or anything useful

There is overweight, and then there is obese.

The only person …. and I mean … the only person … responsible for your weight, is you.

Let’s put it in reverse … even if somebody else WERE to be able to take responsibility for it, how would they ever do it?

There are a lot of men, who like larger women. And that is fine … as long as people are happy.

But you can’t get upset at the "patriarchy" for "brainwashing" people into having "unreasonable" standards of fitness and beauty.

Americans, by world standards, are fat. Period. Why? Because we eat too much.

I have noticed that most men like a woman who is a healthy weight. He doesn’t go for the anorexic in the bikini. That is a complete myth. Healthy weight = healthy mind. Don’t tell me that we hold men to different standards.

Not my problem, and I really couldn’t care less. Men aren’t pointing the gun at women head and forcing them to be thin. It just that everyone have preferences, and I have mine. I prefer women who are slim. And it is very possible for women to be slim and have curves at the same time.

You seem to think a woman either has to be "plus size" or have an body like a skeleton, which is patently absurd.

Some men like thin women, some men like curvaceous women, some men even like obese women. I like plump but not obese, that’s my personal preference. So don’t pretend men as a group pressurise women as a group to be stick-thin because thats pure BS. For every man who likes slim women there’s a man who prefers buxom women.
