I'm Dating a 16 Year Old and I'm 22? What Do You Think?

Keep the dating questions coming! I liked this one:

Question: You’re going to hate, and her parents definitely hate. We met at a festival when she tripped into my food.. and I told her YOU better be paying for this.. and we started talking after this.. we’ve been dating for 6 months now and I treat her exceptionally well. We get along like we are best friends. Do you think it’s wrong for me to date a 16 year old? I love her…

For all the those who say illegal.. I live in Canada.. age of consent is 16 here… check your local state laws in America for Age of consent..
Miss blue.. some states in America have 16 as the age of consent.. look it up you idiot..

Answer: Well I am 17 and my boyfriend is 21 but we have known each other since I was 5 and he was 9 so that is a different matter. In my opinion (which you did ask for) it is a little too old. Four years older is probably as much age difference I would like up until they are 18, then they can have as much of an age different as they want. Hell my mother was 24 and my father was 45 but to me that is ok because she was over 18 and she knew what she was doing. Women develop faster then men and the fact that you are over 17 is good because you have developed enough to match her (I’ve dated kids my age and they are too silly and immature).

The age of consent is important but not that much. Although you can have sex with her doesn’t mean that any person of any age should have sex with her. You say you love her but how long have you really known her? 6 months? Do you have sex with her? My boyfriend had to wait a year before we could have sex and it’s only just happened recently so we had to wait. My parents were very against us dating because I was 16 and he was 20 but we won them over when my boyfriend stuck through all the sh*t he had to go through and he moved states to be with me when I was forced to move. You need to show her parents that you are worth the trouble, do you want to be with her forever? You are going to be classified as a pedophile or something else and she is going to get heaps of sh*t for dating you because of your age. I know because I have been there. Teachers frowned at me when I told them (they would always ask: where does he go to school and I would have to tell them that he doesn’t) and my boyfriend got sh*t from my school mates that didn’t care about me at all and didn’t even know me. Hell some of them bullied me and they thought they should call him a pedo to his back as he was walking away from the school. That was right after he bought me 13 red roses outside my school before I went on the bus to get ready for our first real date which was at a wonderful resturant.

I think the 6 year age gap is a bit much and if my daughter told me I would ask you to not sleep with her for a year just like I had to because most boys/males want sex over everything. Its not easy because I was horny and he was but we waited and in the end it all worked out. Can you say the same? Would you stay with her if you couldn’t have sex for a year?

I hope this helps

16 is the age of consent in many places so since you’re not breaking any laws it up to you too what you want if you’re both happy don’t worry what others say.. at the end of the day 6 years really isn’t that much of a difference. if you’re happy so be it… :)

She’s clearly not bothered, so don’t stress. If you love her and you want the relationship to last you should even bother with other people and what they say about it :) plus its what a 5-6 year age gap, who cares! Enjoy your time with her, loads of relationships happen thru festivals and last a very long time. Don’t worry about what people say, if you love her and she loves you, DEUCES :)
